Mx Ashwin Afrikanus Thyssen is a junior lecturer in the Department of Systematic Theology and Ecclesiology, Stellenbosch University. He teaches church polity, church history, and religion and law.
Ashwin is also a PhD candidate, focusing on Christian theological anthropology. In his doctoral dissertation he considers how black theology and queer theology may be in dialogue, in the attempt to construct a liberating theological anthropology.
In short, Ashwin describes himself as ontologically black, existentially queer and spiritually christian.
